Post Graduate Training in Eurythmy in the Working Life

Auriel Eurythmy is hosting a post-graduate course in social eurythmy in four 10 day modules over two years. The course is based on the work of the INSTITUTE of EURYTHMY in WORKING LIFE, founded by Annemarie Ehrlich in 1986. Annemarie Ehrlich is actively engaged in mentorship for this new course. |

This course is for qualified eurythmists who wish to begin a career in social eurythmy, or eurythmy in the workplace.
We will experience a wealth of exercises, suitable for social eurythmy, or eurythmy in the workplace. We will also explore what it means to work with companies within the anthroposophical stream, or with companies that are purely commercial. We will research the questions that are asked by modern companies in our countries of origin and how to approach them in eurythmy.
In between the modules we will meet 2 - 3 times on Zoom, for an exchange of ideas and experiences that we have gathered since beginning the training.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion.
The course will be taught by Tereza Mazzei, who is currently a practitioner in social eurythmy, and guest teachers.

“My professional background is based on a nearly twenty-year-long multiple-work experience in several companies, first as a consultant in leading consulting international firms, then as a treasury manager and a chief financial officer in a company for financial services.
Although I have always dedicated myself to my work with full commitment, my life has constantly been accompanied by a deep-lying question: What is the meaning of working for a firm? What is the meaning of getting involved in apparently distant or meaningless tasks?
In 2006 I met Annemarie Ehrlich, taking part in her workshop ‘Eurythmy in the workplace’. Since the very first meeting I was able to find some answers to my questions about ‘meaningless tasks’ and I immediately grasped the high potential of this art for the development of organizations and of individuals working in them.
The impulse I received was so strong that I decided to start a six-year training course in Eurythmy and in ‘Eurythmy in the workplace’, regardless of the difficulties I had trying to combine my working life with my training path.
In the meantime my working method changed considerably both in involvement and responsibility, but it became more meaningful.
I am also a member of ASD, Association for Social Development prompted from Lievegoed's impulse.”

Why a specific training?
Every company or association, or any other organised group, in which several people come together with a more or less complex structure, lives in a constant movement and develops out of movement.
Through the people, who work in the organisation, each of these structures is born, grows, goes through developmental phases, and can also come to an end; it therefore acquires a life, an ability to learn and evolve. There is no stasis: either it evolves together with the context, generating value for people and the territory, or it regresses by destroying value on the same levels. Each organisation is a unique entity, in which people move (or should move) in processes that imply a rhythm, interchanges and interdependencies inside and outside, diversification and specialisation, as well as a common image to strive towards, that is not static, but in continuous and potential evolution.
Can this movement be spontaneous or inertial? Evidently not.
Just as Eurythmy applied to the pedagogical or healing processes. requires a familiarity with the developmental stages of a human biography, so also Eurythmy in the Working Life, requires a familiarity with developmental phases of organisations and social dynamics, as well as a re-elaboration of the basic elements of eurythmy.

The Participants - This course is for:
A part of each module will be opened to non-eurythmists (entrepreneurs, managers or whoever is interested in the social development path through Eurythmy) or eurythmy students with less than 3-year training. |
Retrospective activities, according to the method developed by Annemarie Ehrlich, for a conscious development of our observational and learning skills, distinguishing between personal experience, and objective experience as well as how to distinguish between the essential and non essential.
Approaching theories and other insights concerning the development of social/organisational path, as background to find out connections with Eurythmy and to speak the language of the world that we are going to meet.
The course will be carried out mainly through the practice of eurythmy, with simpler exercises gradually increasing in complexity, based on the approach developed by Annemarie Ehrlich. Students will also be asked to become active in transforming existing exercises, or creating new exercises and leading them.

The history of “Eurythmy in Working Life”
Eurythmy for organizations and other social settings has been practiced since the 1980's. It grew in collaboration with the eurythmist Annemarie Ehrlich, and with Bernhard Kloke and Adriaan Bekman, who at that time were both member of NPI (Netherlands Pedagogic Institute), institute for training and consulting in organisational development, founded by B.J.C.
